A First Look At Cosme, Paros, The Greek Island’s Newest Luxury Hotel
Just when you thought the Cycladic island of Paros couldn’t get any dreamier, Cosme, Paros has opened as part of Marriott Bonvoy’s upscale Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
This is Cosme
Imagine waking up as the morning sunlight dapples through the palm trees, slipping out from between the cool, crisp sheets and taking a few short steps to dip your toes into the clear Aegean waters, before spending the day enjoying Greek-inspired bites and cocktails on a plush seaside lounger. All this—and more—can be found at Cosme.
Blending seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, Cosme invites guests to experience the very essence of Greek island barefoot luxury. The design, by Athens-based architecture and interior design team, ID Laboratorium, is elegant, yet pared-back, classic, yet contemporary, inspired by Greece, the Cyclades and Paros.
Paros, the heart of the Cyclades
Once upon a time, Paros was perhaps best known as the island where the ferry stopped en route to your real destination. These days, it has garnered a well-deserved reputation among those in the know as one of Greece’s most desirable travel hotspots.
Less hyped than nearby Mykonos or Santorini, it is precisely this somewhat-under-the-radar quality that makes Paros so downright delightful. The most central island of the Cyclades is by no means a secret, but attracting fewer party animals and Instagram influencers than its neighbors has allowed it retain much of its authenticity and charm. While the fishing village of Naoussa and the port of Parikia get quite busy in high season, you don’t have to venture far to stumble upon a pristine beach, a quintessential mountain village, or an idyllic seaside taverna—like Siparos, conveniently located up the road from Cosme.
Setting a new standard
Featuring 40 suites, some with private plunge pools and sea views, a holistic wellness concept, a private beach club, an infinity pool and a beachfront restaurant, Cosme is setting a new standard on an island where ultra-luxury hotels are still relatively few and far between.
Design details reference the natural beauty of Paros: from the characteristics of the local architecture, to the hotel’s half-moon pool designed to mirror the bay of Naoussa. Meandering pathways throughout the property create an intimate village-style feel, reminiscent of Naoussa itself, which is only a short walk away.
Inside the 40 suites you will find a stylish blend of traditional textures and local stone, combined with carefully curated pieces by contemporary Greek artists, as well as original gravures of Paros’ folk life and naval tradition.
Elios, Cosme’s spa and wellness hub, features a star-gazing area at the highest point of the hotel. The space, which overlooks Naoussa and the resort’s private beach, is ideal for yoga and meditation.
Greek chef Yiannis Kioroglou is in charge of the culinary journey at Cosme, bringing his passion for ‘Medite-grecian’ cuisine to its restaraunts. Having joined Cosme from La Petite Maison in Cannes and La Guerite in Saint Barth, he remains faithful to his roots and breathes Greek "philoxenia", or hospitality, into all his creations, which range from deliciously delicate plates of sashimi to whole grilled locally caught fish.
Developed by Greek-owned Kanava Hotels & Resorts, which already operates several high-end hotels around the islands, Cosme, Paros forms part of Marriott Bonvoy’s exclusive Luxury Collection. It opened officially on June 15, 2022.
